Forbidden Plateau was once site of the Wood Mountain Ski Park and Forbidden Plateau Ski Area until late 1980′s when the unfortunate accident occurred crushing the main lodge. Fire later ravaged the sunken timbers and the remaining chairlifts and structures remain rusting away as each rain passes.

Mountain bike trails emerged to use the slopes of and below the old ski lodge.  The most famous of which is the mix of trails commonly referred to as “Two Sheiks”. The classic ride includes the ride down from the lodge, two sheiks, good enuf, monkeys challenge, saporro steeps, monkeys and then either riding to the lake via black diamond or down the plunge.

The area now provides a massive network of trails including new gems such as Gecko and Cabin Fever, with more xc friendly trails arriving each spring.
